Senior Reactor Operator
About this role
Constellation is recruiting Initial License Trainees to become NRC-licensed Senior Reactor Operators at Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station (Cordova, IL). You'll complete comprehensive classroom instruction, on-the-job training, and NRC examinations to earn your SRO license, then supervise reactor operators and licensed staff in the control room.
Responsibilities
- —Attend Initial License Training (ILT) including classroom instruction, examinations, and on-the-job training and evaluation
- —Successfully complete all phases of training to obtain an NRC Senior Reactor Operator license
- —Perform duties as an Operations Shift Supervisor supervising licensed reactor operators in the reactor control room
- —Directly supervise bargaining unit reactor operators and equipment operators
- —Perform emergency response, departmental coverage, call-outs, and support of outage activities as directed by management
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or GED
- —One of the following: (1) 1 year as a licensed Reactor Operator at a comparable facility (PWR to PWR or BWR to BWR); (2) 1.5 years at a non-comparable facility (PWR to BWR or vice versa); (3) 1.5+ years in an equivalent position at a military reactor (e.g., Power Plant Watch Engineer, Reactor Operator, Propulsion Plant Watch Supervisor); (4) 4-year degree in engineering, engineering technology, or physical sciences with 1.5+ years as a qualified non-licensed operator or staff member in operations, engineering, maintenance, radiation protection, chemistry, or accredited training at a comparable facility; (5) current or previous SRO Instructor certification with 4 years experience at a comparable facility or 6 years at a non-comparable facility
- —Ability to maintain minimum access or unescorted access requirements
- —Favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties
Location
Quad Cities Nuclear Power Station, Cordova, IL. ILT class begins January 2027. Shift-based operations with mandatory extended hours coverage at 1.5x base salary.
