Responsibilities include controlling reactivity systems, monitoring plant parameters, operating equipment from the main control room, and ensuring compliance with all NRC regulations and station procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain NRC Reactor Operator license; operate reactor, turbine, and auxiliary equipment on rotating shift basis
  • Control reactivity systems affecting plant power levels in strict compliance with NRC regulations (10 CFR 50)
  • Monitor gauges, dials, indicators, and process parameters from main control room to ensure safe and proper system operation
  • Inspect and operate auxiliary equipment including pumps, fans, air compressors, heat exchangers, feed water heaters, and water treatment systems
  • Perform equipment maintenance tasks: adjust gland seal pressures on main turbine generator, inspect brushes on main generator field rings, check exciter bearings, manage gas cylinders (hydrogen, nitrogen) on headers
  • Assist Senior Reactor Operators in evaluating operational data and events for regulatory compliance; perform initial troubleshooting on control circuits and tripping devices
  • Operate water treatment systems including chemical feed adjustment and water sample testing; operate oil cleaning equipment and take periodic oil samples
  • Perform manual switching in auxiliary power centers for maintenance and emergency repairs when remote control is unavailable; inspect relays, transformers, switchgear, and batteries

On-site nuclear facility; rotating shift basis required (days, nights, weekends)
