Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One of the following:
- 1+ year Reactor Operator license at a comparable PWR facility (or 1.5 years at non-comparable facility)
- 1.5+ years equivalent position at military reactor (PWES, Engineering Watch Supervisor, RO, EOOW, or PPWS)
- 4-year engineering/engineering technology/physical sciences degree (or PE license) plus 1.5+ years as qualified non-licensed operator or supervisor at comparable facility
- Current or prior SRO Instructor certification with 4 years experience (comparable) or 6 years (non-comparable)
- Obtain and maintain minimum access or unescorted access clearance
- Pass medical examination per position requirements
About this role
Constellation is recruiting Initial License Trainees to earn NRC Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) licenses at Braidwood Nuclear Station (Westinghouse PWR, Braceville, IL). Successful candidates will complete comprehensive classroom and on-the-job training beginning November 2026, then supervise licensed reactor operators in the control room and perform shift supervisor duties.
Responsibilities
- Attend Initial License Training (ILT) including classroom instruction, NRC examinations, and evaluated on-the-job training
- Successfully complete all phases of training and pass NRC SRO licensing examination
- Perform Operations Shift Supervisor duties, directly supervising licensed Reactor Operators and Equipment Operators in the control room
- Support emergency response procedures, departmental coverage, on-call duties, and refueling outage operations
- Maintain compliance with security access requirements and operational procedures
Location, schedule, and travel
Braidwood Nuclear Station, Braceville, Illinois; shift-based operations with 24/7 coverage; extended hours paid at 1.5x base salary; relocation assistance may be available
