About this role

Project Engineer supporting Westinghouse's Non Destructive Testing & Special Product Department. You will lead development projects for nuclear facility repair, maintenance, and decommissioning equipment from concept through field application, managing project controls, timelines, budgets, stakeholder communications, and cross-functional coordination with supply chain, quality, and sales teams.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and plan all aspects of development projects, applying tools and techniques to optimize performance and reduce inefficiencies
  • Manage all project controls activities including scope, schedule, cost, and risk management
  • Process and monitor changes following integrated change control procedures
  • Prepare project cost expenditure forecasts, progress evaluations, and earned value management reports for financial and performance reporting
  • Coordinate project communications to keep team, customers, and stakeholders informed of status
  • Maintain project databases and systems for efficient handling and transmission of project correspondence and documentation
  • Close projects by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems
  • Identify and communicate improvement opportunities, lessons learned, and risk avoidance strategies
  • Support development of offers including technical descriptions, cost estimates, and scheduling with senior engineer guidance
  • Interface with support organizations including Supply Chain Management, Invoicing, Accounting, Sales, and Quality
  • Lead full project lifecycles from proposal through implementation including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling, and close-out
  • Develop detailed project execution plans and schedules covering all project phases
  • Balance competing project constraints including scope, quality, schedule, budget, resources, and risks
  • Develop and implement recovery plans to address delayed activities and deliverables
  • Maintain full accountability for project financial performance and address spending deviations immediately
  • Control project scope by monitoring activities and customer requests against contracts and SOW
  • Communicate identified changes immediately to customers and internal management

Qualifications

  • Project management experience in technical or engineering environments
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, and cost management
  • Experience with earned value management and financial forecasting
  • Proficiency with project management tools and systems
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and constraints

Desired

  • Technical PM certification or equivalent experience transitioning to technical project management
  • Nuclear industry or heavy equipment manufacturing experience
  • Experience in equipment development, testing, or qualification processes
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing or nuclear facility operations
  • Supply chain and vendor management experience

Location

Based in Mannheim, European Service Center; 0–2 days home office per week possible; willing to travel to customer sites, suppliers, and other Westinghouse facilities
