Design Engineer
About this role
Design Engineer at Westinghouse Mannheim, developing specialized electromechanical equipment for nuclear power plant component repair and field deployment. Focus on innovative tool design across complex systems and international teams.
Responsibilities
- —Develop and design concepts and equipment for nuclear power plant component repair
- —Create detailed mechanical designs and technical solutions for complex nuclear environments
- —Support development, testing, and qualification of new equipment, including customer reviews and on-site activities
- —Contribute to FOAK (First-Of-A-Kind) projects and advance products from prototype to maturity
- —Prepare project documentation including Work Instructions, Development Programs, Test Reports, and Bills of Materials
- —Provide ongoing support for existing products including troubleshooting, spare parts coordination, and technician training
- —Collaborate across departments, sites, and international teams
Qualifications
- —Minimum 3 years of experience in development, design, and testing of specialized electromechanical equipment
- —German language proficiency at mother tongue or C2-Level (required)
- —English language proficiency at minimum B1 level (required)
- —Proficient user of CAD design software, preferably Creo
- —Strong problem-solving mindset
- —Team-oriented with open and clear communication
Desired
- —English language proficiency at B2 level or higher
- —French language proficiency
- —Knowledge of machining/chip-removal processes
- —Knowledge of hydraulics
- —Knowledge of welded structure design
Location
Hybrid role based in Mannheim, Germany with international team collaboration and potential on-site customer activities.
