Power Plant Supervisor
About this role
Power Plant Supervisor role at Entergy's Port Arthur, Texas facility managing daily operations of a Combined-Cycle Gas Turbine power plant. You'll oversee shift operations and maintenance staff, ensure NRC and corporate regulatory compliance, lead commissioning activities for this new facility, and drive operational excellence across all plant systems including boilers, turbine/generators, and auxiliary equipment.
Responsibilities
- —Manage and oversee daily operations of the power plant including boilers, turbine/generators, and auxiliary equipment within assigned area of responsibility
- —Oversee, lead and direct plant shift staff including operations and maintenance personnel; foster a safety-oriented culture and mentor direct reports
- —Meet system load requirements and monitor operations for efficiency and safety while ensuring regulatory compliance and system reliability
- —Provide continuous monitoring of plant equipment and ensure safe isolation/lock-out procedures and restoration of site equipment
- —Lead pre-commercial commissioning activities and coordinate with EPC partners; assume operational control at commercial operations milestone
- —Responsible for hiring, training, and developing Production Technicians for commissioning and commercial operations phases
- —Design, develop, implement, and evaluate operations programs utilizing metrics and key results; refine operating procedures, training plans, and alarm management protocols
- —Provide leadership and technical direction for unit troubleshooting, vendor/OEM coordination, and operations/maintenance fundamentals
- —Manage assigned projects including scope development, budget estimates, contractor oversight, and project closeout
- —Ensure commissioning and testing reports are received and stored per records management policy; maintain compliance with Corporate Safety standards and Entergy Safety Process
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or equivalent
- —3-5 years relevant professional experience in power plant operations, maintenance, or project work
Desired
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations management, or related technical field (or equivalent professional experience)
- —8-10 years of power plant operations and boiler operations experience
- —3-5 years as a control board operator
- —In-depth knowledge of power plant systems and unit operating practices at Operating Technician Proficiency level or higher
- —Knowledge of unit cycle chemistry, its requirements, and corrective actions
- —NRC Operations experience preferred
Location
Onsite in Port Arthur, Texas with 25-50% travel. Safety Sensitive position requiring pre-employment and random drug testing.
