Maintenance Operator I-III
About this role
Maintenance Operator position (I, II, or III level based on experience) at Entergy nuclear or fossil power plants. Responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex power plant instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems. Requires 5+ years of power plant operations/maintenance experience with expertise in control systems, electrical equipment, water chemistry analysis, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- —Troubleshoot, identify, maintain, and repair power plant equipment including instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems
- —Perform Lockout/Tagout of equipment following applicable safety procedures
- —Diagnose and repair instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, gauges, switches, control valves, PLCs, and DCS systems
- —Install and troubleshoot instrumentation tubing, electrical conduit, panels, and fiber optic systems
- —Perform water chemistry analysis on boiler makeup water system and make adjustments to maintain proper control ranges
- —Coordinate with Operations and water treatment vendors on chemistry monitoring and control
- —Install new control system equipment and properly use electrical and control system-specific test equipment
- —Perform preventative maintenance tasks on power plant equipment
- —Comply with all Safety Procedures and Policies
- —Step into Temporary Supervisor or Contract Administrator roles when needed
- —Work overtime as required and be available for emergency response during storms and outages
Qualifications
- —High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
- —5 years power plant operations and/or maintenance experience
- —Ability to lift 100 lbs and carry 50 lbs; ability to climb scaffolds, stairs, and ladders
- —Knowledge of instrument and control system diagnosis and repair
- —Proficiency in instrumentation tubing installation (bending, cutting, Swagelok fittings)
- —Knowledge of electrical systems diagnosis and repair including breakers, motor starters, motors, switchgear, and motor control centers
- —Proficiency in electrical system installation including conduit work and panel installation
- —Understanding of electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, P&ID, and layout drawings
- —Knowledge of fiber optic troubleshooting, terminations, and splicing
- —Knowledge of steam boilers, turbo generators, pumps, heaters, steam traps, and pressure/level regulators
- —Basic computer knowledge for timekeeping and maintenance management systems
- —Team-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- —Successful completion of the EEI POSS/MASS test
Desired
- —Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program
- —Journeyman Electrician's License
Location
Onsite at Entergy Arkansas-Osceola or Louisiana-Westwego locations; up to 25% travel; must be available for emergencies and alternate work locations; non-exempt (overtime eligible)
