About this role

Lead shift operations at Entergy's Orange, Texas power generation facility. Oversee safe, reliable plant operations and maintenance, direct shift personnel, coordinate with dispatchers to meet system demands, and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and NERC/CIP regulations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring direct equipment operation (boiler, turbine, generator) during normal and emergency conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assign work and provide real-time direction to shift employees on equipment operation, maintenance, and startup/shutdown activities
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of boiler, turbine, generator, and associated equipment; manually operate equipment during emergencies
  • Facilitate Shift Safety meetings and Job Briefings; promote adherence to safety procedures and Human Performance tools
  • Coordinate with Energy Management Organization Dispatchers to operate units to meet system needs
  • Develop work packages with Team Leaders, Planner Schedulers, and Engineers; determine material requirements
  • Lead and mentor assigned employees; report training activities; provide fill-in coverage for Operations Team Lead as needed
  • Oversee contractors during after-hours operations and maintenance; ensure adequate shift coverage during unplanned absences
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and NERC/CIP requirements; serve as subject matter expert for boiler, turbine, and generator systems

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years power plant operations experience
  • Strong knowledge of technology and computer systems
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and sound decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and recognize/mitigate workplace hazards
  • Self-motivated, dependable team player with acceptance of diverse and inclusive work environment

Desired

  • 2-year Process Technology Degree
  • 10+ years power plant operations experience
  • Operations Technician progression level knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and lead problem-solving teams

Location

Orange, Texas; onsite; rotating 12-hour shifts; up to 25% travel
