Welding Engineer
About this role
Westinghouse is seeking a Welding Engineer to ensure quality of welding processes and adherence to nuclear codes, standards, and specifications at the Monfalcone facility. You will manage welding qualifications, procedures, and fabrication activities for nuclear component delivery, reporting to the Senior Component Delivery Manager.
Responsibilities
- —Ensure quality of welding processes while adhering to all relevant nuclear codes, design requirements, technical specifications, standards, and contractual obligations
- —Organize and coordinate welding qualification and test activities for procedures, mock-up tests, and fabrication
- —Author welding procedures, procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder/welding operator performance qualifications
- —Create and issue technical documentation (WPS, WB, PQR) according to applicable codes and customer standards
- —Supervise laboratory tests required for qualifications validation
- —Select filler materials based on analysis of codes, standards, and contractual requirements
- —Implement robotic welding solutions and oversee their integration
- —Manage and organize multiple welding activities and jobs concurrently
- —Apply detailed knowledge of welding materials, processes, and normative standards for filler material classification
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Engineering degree (Materials or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
- —0–2 years of experience (Engineer I level) or 3–4 years of experience (Engineer II level)
- —Understanding of ASME, EN, and RCC-M codes
- —Knowledge of ASTM and EN standards governing mechanical tests, laboratory tests, welding processes, and filler materials
- —Advanced English proficiency (C1 level minimum)
Desired
- —Certification as Welding Technologist (IWT) or Welding Engineer (IWE)
Location
Monfalcone, Italy. Working hours: 8:00 AM–12:30 PM and 1:15 PM–4:45 PM Monday–Friday (45-minute lunch break), with flexible start/end times available.
