Required qualifications
University degree in Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Nuclear Sciences) or Engineering (Industrial, Energy, Nuclear, Chemical, or Civil). Minimum 3 years experience in nuclear safety, radiological protection, or radiological analysis. Knowledge of radiological protection principles and CSN regulatory framework. Experience with safety analysis under normal and accidental conditions including shielding calculations, environmental contamination evaluation, ventilation analysis, and radiation monitor setpoint determination. Experience in nuclear or radioactive facilities. Familiarity with nuclear and radioactive facility regulations and health protection regulations. Fluency in Spanish (speaking and writing required) and English with reporting skills. Valid driving license required.
About this role
Westinghouse WC&D Engineer providing engineering services for radioactive waste treatment, storage, and characterization from operating plants and decommissioning projects. Core responsibilities include radiological protection analysis, safety reporting to Spain's Nuclear Safety Council (CSN), and licensing support for nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- Draft and update safety reports, technical memoranda, and documentation for CSN (Nuclear Safety Council)
- Perform radiological calculations including dose estimates to public and workers, shielding assessments, dose rate evaluations, ventilation families calculation, and environmental contamination assessments
- Determine radiation monitor setpoints and design/monitor radiological surveillance systems
- Evaluate safety impact of design modifications and review applicable CSN regulations and licensing requirements
- Prepare supporting documentation, presentations, and technical summaries
- Support technical visits and follow-up activities at CA El Cabril waste repository
- Participate in international technical teams
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of AMBER, ORIGEN2PC, and shielding calculation codes. Technical interest in understanding project priorities. Teamwork abilities and willingness to travel.

Madrid, Spain. Hybrid position with high flexibility and autonomy. Travel required.
