About this role

Perform testing and inspection engineering work on electrical and physical systems for PSEG nuclear and utility operations. Conduct high voltage testing of transformers and circuit breakers, battery testing, ground grid testing, SF6 leak detection, and dew point analysis following ANSI and IEEE guidelines. This role requires NRC unescorted site access and involves both field and laboratory work at nuclear facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical and electrical testing, inspection, and evaluation of materials, equipment, and systems for electric and gas utility and power generation operations
  • Perform high voltage testing of transformers, circuit breakers, and auxiliary equipment at electrical substations following prescribed procedures
  • Conduct battery testing, ground grid testing, SF6 leak detection, and dew point analysis
  • Obtain field clearance and coordinate test performance arrangements
  • Modify test procedures, apparatus, set-ups, methods, and computer applications to meet specific requirements
  • Inspect, clean, adjust, calibrate, and repair all test instruments and equipment to ensure proper operation and accuracy
  • Witness and approve tests and examinations of equipment conducted by division personnel, manufacturers, and other testing agencies
  • Develop and write reports on tests and investigations; perform and verify computations for completeness and accuracy
  • Instruct assigned personnel on testing procedures and protocols
  • Ensure personnel and public safety at all times during assigned work

Qualifications

  • Completion of technical training equivalent to two years of college
  • Working knowledge of testing instruments, test equipment, computers, and test methods used in the work
  • Basic working knowledge of science and engineering principles as applied to electrical power, electronic circuitry, chemistry, materials science, and physics
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work carefully and thoroughly
  • Possess skill and knowledge necessary for required certification(s) in all pertinent test disciplines
  • Meet all training requirements to perform position duties
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Site Access
  • Valid Real ID or approved alternate documentation
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status (DOE 10 CFR 810 compliance)

Desired

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working in high voltage testing
  • Knowledge of SAP

Location

Onsite; union position (Local IBEWE 94); field and laboratory work at PSEG nuclear facilities; requires valid driver's license for company vehicle operation
