Temporary Nuclear Worker (Temporary Outage)
About this role
Temporary position supporting Salem Nuclear Station outage operations. Perform basic maintenance support, equipment staging, and unskilled labor under supervision of qualified nuclear personnel. Role involves work in radiological controlled areas and requires Nuclear Plant Unescorted Access.
Responsibilities
- —Learn functions of Maintenance and Operations departments, performing basic support activities
- —Perform plant tours and inspections with qualified nuclear personnel
- —Perform basic technical writing and document reviews
- —Set up temporary safety barriers and protective screening around work areas
- —Transport and stage equipment in support of work by qualified personnel
- —Assist nuclear departments where unskilled labor is required
- —Work in contaminated and/or radiological controlled areas as assigned
- —Maintain shop and work location in neat and orderly condition
- —Perform job duties according to company safety policy and procedures
Qualifications
- —High School Diploma or GED
- —Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- —Ability to follow simple instructions and carry out routine assignments
- —Aptitude for mechanical work and keen observation skills
- —Valid U.S. driver's license with satisfactory driving record
- —Ability to obtain and maintain Nuclear Plant Unescorted Site Access
- —Pass background investigation including fingerprint and criminal history check
- —Pass physical examination and psychological assessment
- —Pass nuclear plant access training requirements and Fitness for Duty testing (pre-placement and random drug/alcohol testing)
- —Valid Real ID or approved alternate documentation required by May 7, 2027
- —Meet citizenship/residency requirements for 10 CFR 810 (DOE regulation) compliance
Location
Onsite, Salem Nuclear Station. Temporary position for outage duration; may be required to work different schedules during emergency restoration efforts. Work in contaminated/radiological controlled areas with required personal protective equipment (PPE).
