Structural Engineer 1
About this role
Entry-level Structural Engineer at Westinghouse supporting nuclear industry clean energy solutions. You will perform analysis and design of reinforced concrete systems for nuclear facilities, conduct seismic analysis, and support geotechnical studies. Gain hands-on experience in structural modeling, design calculations, and collaboration with senior engineers on nuclear projects.
Responsibilities
- —Support civil/structural design activities including calculation creation and design for nuclear facilities
- —Address technical issues related to fabrication, assembly, and construction phases of civil/structural projects
- —Provide technical justification of design changes and troubleshoot emergent technical issues
- —Gain familiarity with analytical tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and GTSTRUDL
- —Aid in maintenance of software compliance records and closure of engineering corrective actions
- —Become familiar with applicable industry civil/structural codes (ACI, AISC, AWS) and company procedures
- —Develop engineering sketches and markups using AutoCAD or similar CAD programs
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Civil/Structural Engineering)
Desired
Prior nuclear industry experience; Prior Westinghouse internship experience; FE certification
Location
Hybrid role based at global headquarters in Cranberry, PA
