Structural Analyst Engineer
About this role
Structural Analyst Engineer in Westinghouse's Component Structural Analysis group performing advanced technical evaluations and finite element analyses of nuclear safety-class components and piping systems. Responsibilities include design verification, factory follow-up, plant modification support, and long-term operation assessments for nuclear power plants.
Responsibilities
- —Perform engineering evaluations and finite element analysis (FEA) calculations in ANSYS to verify nuclear power plant components against applicable standards
- —Execute hand calculations and stress analysis for fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments of mechanical components
- —Document technical analyses and propose integrated solutions to structural mechanics challenges
- —Provide direct engineering support to plant teams with potential international travel
- —Participate in international project teams and communicate with stakeholders on seismic qualification and component replacement projects
- —Progress toward technical leadership or project management roles based on performance
Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering; 1+ years experience in structural analysis or related role; knowledge of nuclear industry standards and mechanical component stress analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics; proficiency with finite element analysis software (ANSYS APDL and Workbench); fluent English and Spanish
Location
San Sebastián de los Reyes, Spain (Westinghouse Madrid headquarters); hybrid work schedule with potential for international travel to support nuclear plant projects
