Software Engineer
About this role
Software Engineer at Westinghouse developing and maintaining Windows-based applications for commercial nuclear power plants. You will apply C/C++ expertise and SOLID design principles to build systems that meet nuclear engineering, scientific, and NRC regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- —Develop Windows applications using approved technologies and coding standards to satisfy engineering, scientific, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements
- —Perform senior-level design, development, coding, testing, and debugging of new and legacy nuclear software systems
- —Apply secure coding practices and object-oriented principles to prevent security vulnerabilities
- —Maintain code quality through unit testing and comprehensive technical documentation
- —Communicate with internal partners and customers to gather accurate specifications for new enhancements and applications
- —Stay current with application security best practices and modern vulnerability mitigation
Qualifications
- —B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- —4+ years of software development experience
- —C/C++ programming experience
- —Experience writing specifications, design documents, test procedures, user guides, and test reports
- —Experience with Modbus/OPC/TCP/IP protocols
- —Experience with Windows socket programming
- —Experience with Wireshark troubleshooting
Desired
- —Fortran experience
- —Cisco switch configuration familiarity
