Required qualifications
Bachelor of Engineering degree (Materials or Mechanical Engineering preferred). Certification as Welding Technologist or Welding Engineer (IWT/IWE) mandatory. 5–10 years' experience in engineering, welding, and inspection. Solid understanding of ASME, EN, and RCC-M Codes. Knowledge of ASTM and EN standards governing mechanical tests, laboratory tests, welding processes, and filler materials. Advanced English proficiency (C1 level).
About this role
Senior Welding Engineer at Westinghouse responsible for ensuring quality and compliance of welding processes across nuclear energy projects. Oversee welding procedure development, qualification testing, and materials selection for reactor component fabrication. Reports to Senior Component Delivery Manager in Monfalcone.
Responsibilities
- Ensure quality of welding processes, adhering to all relevant codes, design requirements, technical specifications, standards, and contractual obligations
- Organize and coordinate welding qualification and test activities for procedures, mock-up tests, and fabrication
- Author welding procedures, procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder/welding operator performance qualifications per applicable Codes
- Select filler materials based on analysis of Codes, standards, and contractual requirements
- Implement robotic welding solutions and realize prototypes to validate welding designs
- Supervise laboratory tests required for qualifications validation
- Apply process engineering fundamentals and knowledge of welding materials across different welding processes
- Adhere to Nuclear Safety Culture philosophy
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite in Monfalcone, Italy. Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–12:30 PM and 1:15 PM–4:45 PM (45-minute lunch break), or flexible 9:00 AM–5:45 PM option.
