Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Structural Engineering
- Minimum 7 years of structural engineering experience in the nuclear sector
- Demonstrated expertise in structural design principles and high-quality technical documentation
- Proficiency in engineering codes and standards including Structural Eurocodes, Spanish Structural Code, AISC, ASME, ASCE, and NRC guidelines
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (GTStrudl, SAP2000, or RFEM)
- Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken)
About this role
Senior Structural Engineer at Westinghouse leading structural design, analysis, and documentation for nuclear projects. Hybrid role reporting to Commodity Support Design manager. Requires 7+ years of nuclear sector structural engineering experience with expertise in design codes, standards, and technical deliverables for nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- Complete independent structural engineering tasks and assume technical responsibility for assigned nuclear projects
- Review and verify engineering work performed by others, ensuring accuracy and adherence to nuclear design standards
- Develop detailed specifications, technical reports, calculations, and sizing analyses for structural systems
- Originate and validate engineering deliverables including drawings, design reviews, change control documents, and calculation notes
- Ensure all work complies with applicable nuclear engineering codes, standards (AISC, ASME, ASCE, NRC), and internal procedures
- Collaborate within global Westinghouse Engineering framework, provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, and engage with international teams
