Senior Reactor Operator In Training role at Talen Energy's Susquehanna Steam Electric Station (dual-unit BWR facility near Berwick, Pennsylvania). You will earn your SRO license through the station's Licensed Operator Training Program while supervising licensed operators, monitoring plant operations, and directing control room activities to ensure safe and efficient nuclear facility operation.

Responsibilities

—Participate in the station's Licensed Operator Training Program and successfully complete all training and testing required to earn a Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license
—Monitor plant operation and licensed operator performance; respond to system or unit abnormalities by diagnosing root causes and recommending corrective actions
—Authorize performance of maintenance activities on assigned unit and approve changes in equipment and system operational status
—Direct actions of Plant Control Operators in emergency situations in accordance with emergency operating procedures
—Supervise and coordinate fuel handling activities
—Direct the manipulation of unit controls and oversee Control Room activities for assigned unit; manage local operation of plant equipment and activities outside the Control Room when performing as Field Supervisor
—Provide direction and supervision to Plant Control Operators and Nuclear Plant Operators
—Review procedures related to startup, shutdown, power operation, load changes, fuel handling, emergency situations, and surveillance activities
—Provide leadership by conveying organizational values and motivating individuals toward goal achievement

Qualifications

—High School diploma or equivalent AND minimum 1+ years as Active Reactor Operator or Senior Reactor Operator at a commercial power reactor facility of the same vendor and vintage (or 1.5+ years at a comparable BWR/PWR facility, or 2+ years in equivalent position at military reactor)
—OR Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or related sciences (or professional engineering license, or nontraditional degree) with 18+ months experience at comparable facility, 27+ months at noncomparable facility, or 36+ months with nontraditional degree
—1.5 years of responsible nuclear power plant experience
—Satisfactory physical and mental condition per 10 CFR 55.11(a)(1) and (a)(2)
—Satisfactory completion of entry selection test
—Meet all requirements of ANSI/ANS 3.1-2014 for Senior Reactor Operator and NRC Regulatory Guide 1.8
—Senior Operator license for assigned unit(s)
