Responsibilities
- Perform thermal-hydraulics modeling and analysis including heat/mass transfer, radiological source term analysis, and severe accident modeling for nuclear power plants and waste treatment facilities
- Conduct system performance analysis for thermal hydraulic phenomena including water hammer effects
- Implement mathematical models into C++, Fortran, and Python codebases; support software development efforts
- Execute validation experiments and verify first-of-a-kind safety evaluations
- Prepare technical documentation for regulatory and internal evaluations
Preferred qualifications
Experience with MAAP (Modular Accident Analysis Program), RELAP, or other severe accident analysis codes; PRA (Probabilistic Risk Assessment) knowledge; proficiency in C++, Fortran, Python, Visual Basic, or MathCAD; source control experience.
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site in Burr Ridge, IL; remote work considered for highly qualified candidates.
