Senior Nuclear Regulatory Engineer
About this role
Xcel Energy seeks a Senior Nuclear Regulatory Engineer in downtown Minneapolis, MN to provide regulatory support ensuring nuclear power plant compliance with UFSAR, technical specifications, and NRC requirements. This role involves coordinating with all organizational levels on complex regulatory matters and requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- —Coordinate communications with the NRC; manage and conduct management and technical meetings
- —Prepare licensing actions including Notice of Enforcement Discretion (NOED), technical specification changes, license amendments, code relief requests, and exemptions
- —Facilitate inspection preparations, coordination, and conduct; coordinate NRC communications before, during, and after inspections
- —Communicate regulatory vulnerabilities to Fleet and Site management teams; support development and implementation of regulatory strategy
- —Prepare regulatory correspondence including letters, Licensee Event Reports, and requests for information to meet regulatory requirements
- —Research and develop licensing basis regulatory positions from historical regulatory correspondence in conjunction with Fleet Regulatory management
- —Maintain awareness of plant operational status and events for compliance, reportability, and licensing action considerations
- —Support ongoing operations at nuclear sites and work jointly with site personnel on excellence plans
- —Interface with Fleet and Site management teams to support NSPM vision and mission
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- —8+ years of engineering experience
Desired
- —SRO License or Certification, or demonstrated operational experience in lieu of license or certification
- —Previous work experience in nuclear compliance or licensing
Location
Based in downtown Minneapolis, MN; periodic travel may be required
