Required qualifications
- High school diploma minimum
- 5+ years related experience (Senior Instructor); 12+ years (Senior Instructor Nuclear); 13–15 years (Senior Instructor Nuclear Operations)
- In-depth knowledge of instructional design theory and adult learning theory
- In-depth knowledge of plant operations and systems (Nuclear Operations track)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with personal computers and relevant software applications
- Ability to operate various instrumentation and controls
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to analyze job tasks and develop training materials
- Ability to train, lead, and coach others with excellent time management
- Ability to work well with minimal supervision
- For Nuclear Operations track: Hold or have held SRO license or SRO certification (NRC)
About this role
Senior Instructor role at Dominion Energy nuclear power stations (Unit 2/3) developing and delivering performance-based technical training programs for licensed and non-licensed operators. Requires 5–15 years of experience depending on track (General, Nuclear, or Nuclear Operations), with in-depth instructional design expertise and operational/technical knowledge of nuclear plant systems.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, develop, implement, and evaluate performance-based technical training programs compliant with nuclear industry, regulatory, and legal requirements
- Develop instructional materials and conduct training for licensed and non-licensed operators in multiple settings: main control room simulator, classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job
- Act as subject matter expert in specific technical or operational area; consult with business partners to clarify, define, and document work procedures and processes
- Monitor current regulatory initiatives and assess impact on instructor training; interface with regulatory personnel and industry peers
- Participate in rigorous technical and instructional continuing training
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Senior Instructor Training Certification (Dominion)
- Certified Instructor (INPO)
- Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) License or Certification (NRC)
- Familiarity with ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 standards
- Military service background (E5–E9, W1–CW5, or O3–O6 equivalent)
