Senior Instructor (Chemistry-Nuclear)
About this role
Senior Chemistry Instructor for Dominion's nuclear technical training program. You'll develop and deliver chemistry instruction for reactor operators and other nuclear professionals across classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job settings. This role requires mastery of instructional design theory, nuclear chemistry content, and regulatory compliance with NRC and industry standards.
Responsibilities
Develop instructional materials and curricula for nuclear chemistry technical training program
Conduct classroom, laboratory, and on-the-job training for reactor operators and technical staff
Analyze training needs, design programs, develop materials, implement instruction, and evaluate effectiveness using systematic approach to training (SAT)
Maintain all training programs in compliance with NRC regulations, nuclear industry standards, and legal requirements
Train and mentor other instructors and lead training initiatives
Interface with NRC regulatory personnel and industry peers on training matters
Communicate with regulators regarding training program content, delivery, and qualification standards
Qualifications
12+ years related experience OR Certified Instructor with 5+ years experience OR Reactor Operator/Senior Reactor Operator with 5+ years experience OR Senior Instructor Training Certificate from Dominion with 5+ years experience
In-depth knowledge of instructional design theory and Systematic Approach to Training (SAT)
In-depth knowledge of nuclear chemistry
Demonstrated certification as qualified instructor
Minimum 2 years related experience including 0.25 years at a nuclear power plant
For simulator instruction: must hold or have held Senior Reactor Operator license or be certified for equivalent senior operator knowledge
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High school diploma minimum
Desired
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Education
Proficiency with personal computer applications and learning management systems
Ability to operate various instrumentation and controls used in nuclear facilities
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Informal leadership and mentoring abilities
Location
Primarily office-based (76-100%); up to 25% travel required. Work environment may include exposure to cold, energized electrical equipment, fumes, heat, loud noise, outdoor conditions, and radiation.
