Senior Engineer
About this role
Valve Group Engineer at Westinghouse responsible for valve engineering calculations, diagnostics, and technical support for nuclear power plants across Spain and internationally. Role includes setpoint calculations, weak-link analysis, valve sizing for design modifications, and on-site outage support with shift flexibility (8-12 hour shifts as needed).
Responsibilities
- —Perform valve setpoint calculations and update valve datasheets according to customer requirements
- —Perform weak-link calculations and analyze valve diagnostic traces using trace analysis software
- —Develop valve sizing requirements for plant design or modifications
- —Develop technical reports within the Valve Engineering discipline
- —Identify problems and propose solutions for valve-related issues at nuclear power plants
- —Provide technical assistance during outage activities at customer sites (8-12 hour shifts)
- —Provide technical support to other disciplines (I&C, electrical, civil & structural, license, layout)
- —Participate in customer, vendor, and regulator meetings to present technical materials and design justifications
Qualifications
- —Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
- —Experience with MOV (Motor Operated Valves) and AOV (Air Operated Valves)
- —Experience with trace analysis software (e.g., QUIKLOOK)
- —Analytical skills in mechanical and electrical issues on MOV and AOV
- —Detailed knowledge of ASME and ASME OM standards and EPRI guides
- —Ability to travel to other Westinghouse offices and customer sites, including international travel
Desired
- —Nuclear Engineering Master degree
- —Fluent in written and spoken English (minimum B2 or equivalent)
- —Fluent in written and spoken Spanish and/or Catalan
- —Strong written and verbal communication skills
- —Strong organizational skills, time management, and teamwork orientation
- —Ability to resolve complex problems
- —Customer-oriented with experience dealing with plant staff
- —Experience handling emergent issues at nuclear power plants
- —Specific nuclear knowledge
Location
Vila Seca or Madrid, Spain; potential international travel required; onsite outage support may require 8-12 hour shifts adapted to plant operational needs; hybrid work model with flexibility
