Senior Engineer, Nuclear Safety Analysis
About this role
Senior Nuclear Safety Analysis Engineer at Westinghouse performing design basis safety analysis for nuclear reactors, with focus on Loss of Coolant Accidents (LOCA). Develop thermal-hydraulic models, conduct realistic safety analysis using statistical techniques, and serve as technical subject matter expert for plant-specific licensing inquiries and 10 CFR 50.46 compliance.
Responsibilities
- —Develop and assess models and correlations for two-phase flow and heat transfer phenomena in nuclear reactor systems
- —Perform realistic nuclear reactor safety analysis using statistical techniques; contribute to design basis accident (DBA) analysis methodologies
- —Evaluate impacts of plant modifications and operating changes on design analysis; maintain cognizance of plant-specific licensing basis and Analysis of Record
- —Manage 10 CFR 50.46 reporting and serve as technical point of contact for plant-specific LOCA inquiries from internal and external customers
- —Mentor junior engineers; identify and implement process improvements
- —Participate on project teams and contribute to project schedule generation and cost estimates
- —Develop and deliver technical presentations on project status, problem resolution, and engineering recommendations
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; Minimum 4+ years of applicable Nuclear Plant Safety Analysis experience
Desired
Interest in software programming and code development; experience with thermal-hydraulic analysis software and regulatory compliance documentation
Location
Hybrid (on-site and remote, typically within same week); Westinghouse Global Headquarters, Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania
