Project Engineer
About this role
Project Engineer supporting Westinghouse's AP1000 and AP300 advanced reactor development. Drive front-end engineering design, feasibility studies, and early works initiatives across NSSS, balance-of-plant, and regulatory domains. Report to Senior Project Engineering Manager at Cranberry Township, PA headquarters, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on design integration, configuration control, and project delivery for next-generation nuclear plants.
Responsibilities
- —Drive completion of engineering scope within assigned functional areas (NSSS design & analysis, systems engineering, regulatory & licensing, or plant integration) to support AP1000/AP300 plant development
- —Lead front-end engineering design, feasibility, and early works projects; manage schedules, costs, and resource allocation in collaboration with Resource Managers
- —Identify and mitigate technical and project risks; develop recovery plans for schedule or technical challenges
- —Serve as lead point of contact for Functional Area Leads and Project Coordinators; represent discipline in project review meetings
- —Apply engineering principles to integrate multidisciplinary input; facilitate cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement
- —Monitor KPIs for schedule, cost, and quality performance; leverage digital tools for configuration control and collaborative workflows
- —Mentor junior engineers and support Project Engineering Manager and Design Technical Lead as needed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- —Minimum 3 years of applicable engineering experience
- —Demonstrated expertise in at least one of: Design & Analysis (NSSS components, piping, electrical, civil/structural), Systems Engineering (nuclear systems, turbine island, plant layout), Regulatory & Licensing (NRC/international regulatory interaction), or Integration & Coordination (plant layout, configuration control, digital design)
- —Ability to establish and maintain effective networks across multidisciplinary functional areas
Desired
- —Previous experience on AP1000 or AP300 projects
Location
Hybrid: 2 days/week onsite at Cranberry Township, PA or Rock Hill, SC; up to 10% international travel during peak project phases
