Probabilistic Risk Assessment Practitioner
About this role
The Probabilistic Risk Assessment Practitioner learns, maintains, and applies nuclear power plant PRA models to support safe and cost-effective operation of the Callaway Energy Center in mid-Missouri. This role offers multiple career progression levels—Associate, Practitioner, Career Practitioner, and Consulting Practitioner—based on credentials and experience. PRA practitioners are essential to demonstrating nuclear safety through quantitative risk analysis and advising plant leadership on risk-informed decisions.
Responsibilities
- —Develop skills and knowledge to advise Nuclear Division personnel on PRA-related issues
- —Participate in plant program groups that use risk insights, such as the Maintenance Rule Expert Panel
- —Evaluate plant design and licensing changes to determine their quantitative impact on plant risk
- —Learn, maintain, and document Callaway PRA computer-based models to enable determination of quantitative risk
- —Assist in performance of evaluations to determine the risk significance of plant events
- —Interact with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to provide requested information and technical representation
- —Consult with nuclear division personnel on qualitative and quantitative nuclear safety matters including Maintenance Rule, MSPI, NRC Significance Determination Process, and risk-informed applications
- —Learn and maintain department procedures related to PRA
- —Assume Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duties in accordance with Callaway Energy Center Radiological Emergency Response Plan
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Advanced Mathematics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field from an accredited institution
- —Good leadership, decision-making, human relations, and communication skills
- —Security screening clearance for Callaway Energy Center access
Desired
- —Associate level: Training in nuclear Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PSA) or 2+ years nuclear Operations experience
- —Practitioner level: 2+ years professional experience in nuclear PRA or nuclear Operations
- —Career Practitioner level: Minimum 5 years post-degree experience in nuclear PRA or nuclear Operations with demonstrated expertise in advanced PRA methods
- —Consulting Practitioner level: Minimum 8 years post-degree experience in nuclear PRA or nuclear Operations with expertise in advanced PRA methods, mentoring skills, and nuclear industry recognition
Location
Callaway Energy Center, mid-Missouri. Standard day shift; additional hours, callouts, and rotating shifts may be required during refueling outages and emergent plant activities.
