Principal Supplier Quality Engineer
About this role
Principal Supplier Quality Engineer at Westinghouse responsible for supplier quality oversight of ASME B&PV Code materials and components in the AP1000 Nuclear Steam Supply System. Role involves conducting audits, assessments, inspections, and compliance verification across the global supply base to ensure nuclear safety-related components meet NRC, ASME, and Westinghouse quality standards.
Responsibilities
- —Develop and implement supplier surveillance and oversight plans ensuring compliance with quality and technical standards for nuclear safety-related and ASME B&PV Code Section III materials and components
- —Resolve supplier quality issues adversely impacting product quality and perform independent assessments to confirm effective quality management systems
- —Lead assessments of global supply base for regulatory, code, and standard compliance; evaluate supplier quality plans against Westinghouse Engineering requirements
- —Create certification documents identifying procurement requirements met by purchased materials and equipment per applicable codes and specifications
- —Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods to identify failure causes, trends, and measure effectiveness of supplier QA programs
- —Write detailed QA plans/programs per NRC, Westinghouse, and customer standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities; implement documentation scope and retention policies
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline
- —5+ years experience as Supplier Quality Professional or equivalent role with audit and supplier source surveillance experience
- —Experience operating within formal quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, ASME NQA-1)
- —Competency with generating, reviewing, approving, and archiving electronic quality documents and records
- —Valid passport or ability to obtain one; ability to travel internationally 40-50% monthly
Desired
- —NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor experience
- —Proficiency with inspection tools (calipers, gauges, micrometers, specialized testing equipment/IM&TE)
Location
Hybrid position based in Monfalcone, Italy with three days per week onsite requirement. Up to 40-50% monthly travel to supplier facilities; international travel required.
