Principal Supplier Performance Engineer
About this role
Lead supplier performance and quality for Westinghouse nuclear products. Drive cost reduction initiatives, qualify new suppliers, resolve complex quality issues, and strengthen nuclear safety culture across a global supply chain for nuclear reactor components and systems.
Responsibilities
- —Lead supplier development and qualification activities for new nuclear products and cost reduction efforts, including risk identification, schedule management, and design for manufacturability input
- —Conduct technical assessments of new suppliers for manufacturing capability, capacity, process controls, regulatory compliance, and risk evaluation
- —Perform on-site and remote supplier oversight to ensure Westinghouse technical and quality requirements are met
- —Oversee internal and supplier corrective action requests, perform root cause analyses, and verify completion of preventative and corrective actions
- —Lead and escalate quality events, coordinate activities, identify impacted products, and determine disposition and corrective actions
- —Implement performance improvements and lead resolution of complex quality and technical issues
- —Evaluate procurement risk and develop security of supply risk mitigation plans
- —Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure clarity of engineering requirements and supplier communication
- —Support implementation of Value Analysis/Value Engineering, Design for Assembly, and Design for Manufacturing principles
- —Strengthen Nuclear Safety Culture Traits and Human Performance Tools at Westinghouse and with suppliers
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering
- —5+ years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing
- —Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, assembly of components, instrumentation and control)
- —Experience performing process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification
- —Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs
- —Experience identifying project tasks, developing schedules, and managing spend
- —Experience leading multiple concurrent projects
- —Experience authoring technical documents or operating procedures
- —Ability to read drawings and specifications made to ASME standards
