About this role
Lead quality assurance for Westinghouse's APX nuclear projects at VC Summer. Oversee implementation of the Westinghouse Quality Management System and ASME Section III Code Program, mentor QA staff, manage compliance with NRC regulations, and serve as primary liaison with Authorized Nuclear Inspectors. This role is critical to ensuring code certification, inspection readiness, and regulatory compliance for advanced reactor construction.
Responsibilities
- Administer WEC QA programs and implement Westinghouse Quality Management System, project quality plans, and procedures for APX projects
- Establish and oversee project team training on requirements and implementing procedures
- Serve as primary contact with Authorized Nuclear Inspector Supervisor (ANIS) and Authorized Nuclear Inspectors (ANI)
- Lead updates to ASME Section III Code Program manuals and supporting procedures
- Ensure Level 2 implementing procedures comply with ASME Section III Code and Westinghouse Code Program requirements
- Mentor employees on ASME Code applications, Data Reports, and Certified Material Test Reports (CMTRs)
- Review work process documents for compliance with Code, specification, and QA program requirements
- Verify ASME Section III Code Program requirements are met prior to Code Certification and National Board Registration
- Support ASME Section III Code surveys, Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) audits, and internal assessments
- Follow up on corrective actions, evaluate responses, and ensure closure documentation substantiates completion
- Coordinate with engineering, supply chain, and project management to support APX projects
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance regulations, codes, and standards including 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1, and ASME Section III B&PV Code
