Principal Quality Engineer
About this role
Lead supplier quality assurance for Westinghouse's AP1000 nuclear product line, managing teams to ensure externally sourced products meet stringent quality and technical requirements. Oversee complex supplier programs, compliance verification, and resolution of quality issues across the global supply base, reporting to the Supplier Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
- —Lead and manage teams in execution of complex supplier program development, oversight, and quality verification activities
- —Support technical and quality evaluations of suppliers for nuclear-grade products
- —Oversee manufacturing, implementation, and analysis of complex technical products, processes, and systems
- —Develop and execute supplier surveillance and oversight plans (Witness/Hold points) ensuring compliance with engineering, quality, and regulatory requirements
- —Resolve supplier quality issues to improve design integrity, material performance, and code compliance
- —Evaluate supplier quality plans and manufacturing processes against Westinghouse engineering specifications, drawings, codes, and acceptance criteria
- —Perform independent verification activities and assessments to verify effective quality management systems at QSL suppliers
- —Partner with Engineering, Procurement, QA, and Project teams to ensure supplier activities meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements
- —Create certification documents identifying procurement requirements met by purchased materials or equipment
- —Lead assessments of global supply base for compliance with NRC regulations, ASME codes, and Westinghouse engineering requirements
- —Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods to identify failure causes, trends, and measure supplier QA program effectiveness
- —Write detailed QA plans and programs per current NRC, Westinghouse, and customer standards
- —Implement policies on scope and retention requirements of quality assurance documentation
- —Mentor less experienced engineers and provide leadership to ensure practices are understood and followed
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering
- —10+ years of related experience in quality assurance or supplier quality
- —Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- —Capability to explain QA procedures to internal personnel, external customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and licensees
- —Demonstrated ability using structured, analytical questioning approach to assess risks and develop solutions
- —Commitment to personal, industrial, and nuclear safety
Desired
- —NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor certification

Remote, United States; 40–50% travel required
