Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field)
- 10+ years of experience in nuclear project engineering/management or equivalent roles with increasing responsibilities, including leading complex nuclear projects
- Knowledge of AP1000 design, nuclear project management methodologies, reactor engineering principles, and NRC regulations
- Proficiency in project management software and engineering tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Primavera, PowerBI)
- Ability to travel internationally to support Poland Project development
About this role
Principal Project Engineer supporting development of AP1000 nuclear projects from initiation to completion. Provide technical leadership on reactor design, engineering implementation, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver projects on schedule and within budget while ensuring compliance with NRC regulations and nuclear industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering projects for AP1000 reactors, ensuring alignment with nuclear safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams on nuclear systems, design practices, and industry best practices
- Develop and oversee project schedules, budgets, and resources for nuclear projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope
- Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure nuclear project requirements and safety objectives are met
- Ensure compliance with NRC regulations, nuclear safety standards, and quality assurance requirements
- Identify and mitigate project risks specific to reactor development and nuclear construction
- Conduct technical reviews, feasibility studies, and performance evaluations for AP1000 systems and components
- Promote process improvements and adoption of advanced engineering technologies to enhance project efficiency
Preferred qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Prior Westinghouse AP1000 project experience or knowledge of pressurized water reactor design
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid role based in Cranberry, PA; international travel required for Poland Project support
