Principal Mechanical Engineer -Steam Generator
About this role
Principal Mechanical Engineer role at Westinghouse focused on AP1000 primary system components, particularly steam generator design and analysis. You will author technical documentation, perform ASME Code-based engineering calculations, conduct FEA evaluations, and support nuclear power plant component projects on a global team.
Responsibilities
- —Author technical documentation for AP1000 primary components including steam generator, pressurizer, PRHR, core makeup tank, and accumulator
- —Develop operating plant replacement steam generator design documentation including design specifications, design reports, E&DCRs, and calculation notes
- —Perform ASME Code calculations for design and analysis of reactor vessel internals components
- —Evaluate nuclear power plant components using Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- —Support generic projects developing industry guidance and requirements for safe long-term operation of reactor vessel internals
- —Prepare technical presentations and written communications for customers and management
- —Write commercial proposals and prepare cost estimates
- —Travel occasionally (domestic and international) to customer and vendor facilities for on-site support, presentations, and issue resolution
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; minimum 8+ years of applicable experience in nuclear component design or analysis; capability to understand and interpret design documents including drawings and calculation summaries; demonstrated technical leadership experience.
Location
Hybrid role based in Cranberry Township, PA (Westinghouse headquarters); occasional domestic and international travel required.
