Principal Mechanical Engineer
About this role
Principal Mechanical Engineer leading global cross-functional engineering teams on Westinghouse advanced nuclear plant designs. Responsibilities include technical scope execution for large-scale nuclear projects spanning design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance; 3D modeling and plant layout; hazards evaluation and IAEA Safeguards compliance; design interface integration; and customer/regulatory body interaction.
Responsibilities
- —Lead global and cross-functional engineering teams on technical scope execution, schedule, and financial goals for design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance of large-scale nuclear projects
- —Develop 3D models and physical plant arrangements
- —Conduct hazards evaluations and implement IAEA Safeguards requirements
- —Manage design interface integration and oversight across multiple functional areas
- —Present technical topics and interface with global customers and regulatory bodies
- —Mentor engineers and lead knowledge management and retention programs
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering. Minimum 7 years of applicable engineering experience. Ability to work remotely and from customer sites to support global projects.
Desired
Knowledge of PWR reactors and familiarity with AP1000 design.
Location
Cranberry Township, PA or Rock Hill, SC; hybrid (2–3 days/week on-site at manager's discretion); global customer site travel required; no relocation provided.
