Required qualifications
Minimum 8–10+ years nuclear industry experience. Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Nuclear). Demonstrated expertise in 10 CFR 50.59 evaluations, License Amendments, and Topical Reports. Familiarity with NRC regulations, nuclear industry guidance, and AP1000 design/operation. Subject matter expert in one or more technical or licensing discipline.
About this role
Principal Licensing Engineer supporting Westinghouse's Advanced Plant reactor projects (AP1000, AP300). Develop licensing strategies, manage NRC regulatory submittals, and serve as primary liaison between Westinghouse, customers, the NRC, and international regulators for new nuclear plant deployment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement licensing strategies for AP1000 and AP300 advanced reactor designs
- Prepare regulatory submittals including Safety Analysis Reports, license amendment requests, and Topical Reports
- Serve as primary liaison between Westinghouse, customers/licensees, U.S. NRC, and international regulatory bodies
- Evaluate engineering design changes for regulatory compliance
- Support proposal development through technical input, scope definition, and schedule coordination
- Mentor junior engineers on licensing deliverables and project execution
- Deliver licensing presentations to internal and external partners
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid (2 days/week in office) at Cranberry Woods PA, Glen Rose TX, or Rock Hill SC; remote arrangements considered. <10% travel for customer, industry, or regulatory activities.
