Principal Field Specialist
About this role
Lead field service projects for Reactor Coolant Pump and Motor installations at Westinghouse's Madison, PA facility. Manage all aspects of medium to high-complexity nuclear projects—from planning and resource allocation to delivery, quality assurance, and closeout—reporting to the Manager of RES Field Operations.
Responsibilities
- —Plan, organize, and control resources, procedures, training, and timing for Reactor Coolant Pump and Motor field services projects
- —Organize project teams, assign responsibilities, develop schedules, and determine resource and skill requirements
- —Monitor and report on project status including cost, timing, and staffing
- —Ensure adherence to internal and external quality standards per organizational and contract requirements
- —Identify and resolve obstacles to completing projects on time and within budget
- —Support development of project plans, cost baselines, and resource requirements including crew training and fatigue standards
- —Perform schedule and work order reviews with customer feedback
- —Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to develop scope and schedule baselines
- —Assume overall responsibility for field delivery of Reactor Coolant Pump and Motor projects
- —Manage field implementation including scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communications, and stakeholder coordination
- —Interpret and transmit project and contract requirements and changes to functional groups
- —Manage project expenditures for compliance with baselines and scope
- —Promote teamwork and effective communication through project metrics and process maps
- —Develop or oversee project databases, systems, and procedures for efficient documentation handling
- —Provide feedback to technicians and critical skill project team members
- —Close projects by archiving work in financial, scheduling, document management, and resource management systems
- —Perform final project quality assessment and generate final reports
- —Identify and communicate improvement opportunities, lessons learned, and risk avoidance strategies
- —Serve as primary representative to customers, architect engineers, constructors, and internal Westinghouse teams
- —Coach, review, and delegate work to lower-level professionals
Qualifications
- —Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, or Business (or 6–10 years of experience leading and directing medium or high-complexity nuclear industry projects may be substituted)
- —5 years of experience leading and directing field work for medium or high-complexity projects to successful completion
- —Broad technical knowledge of nuclear power plants
Desired
- —3 years in technical/engineering role and 2 years as project manager (considered equivalent to some degree requirements)
- —Familiarity with utility business practices including utility operations, maintenance, engineering practices, and procurement processes
- —Knowledge of material management
- —For international projects: knowledge of local business practices and contracting
Location
Based at Waltz Mill facility in Madison, PA; hybrid work arrangement; field-based project oversight with travel to project sites.
