Occupational Health Nurse at Duke Energy nuclear facilities, responsible for regulatory compliance medical examinations (NRC/OSHA), occupational health case management, first aid response, and emergency medical support. This role requires independent medical decision-making, knowledge of NRC and OSHA regulations, and on-call availability including after-hours emergency response and storm duty deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret physical examinations required for NRC, OSHA, and other regulatory compliance; determine exam types, schedule tests, and document all findings
  • Evaluate employee medical conditions and fitness for duty; recommend medical clearance decisions in compliance with Corporate Medical Director guidelines
  • Assess work-related injuries and illnesses; provide first aid and basic life support during business hours and on-call after-hours
  • Maintain confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA and NRC regulations; document medical consultations and evaluations
  • Conduct Return to Work medical reviews; coordinate with Workers' Compensation Coordinator, vendor management, and off-site medical facilities
  • Provide ergonomic assessments and health education; serve as resource for employee health concerns and EAP referrals
  • Support special events, training activities, and emergency medical deployments including overnight storm duty as needed

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN)
  • Knowledge of NRC regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards with ability to make sound medical decisions
  • Certifications in Audiometric and Spirometry testing
  • Experience with electronic Occupational Health data management systems
  • Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, Workers' Compensation regulations

Location, schedule, and travel

Duke Energy nuclear facilities; on-call availability including after-hours and overnight emergency deployments; travel to assigned Duke Energy locations as needed
