Required qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Materials Science with component design experience
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 8 years of applicable experience in nuclear component design or analysis
Experience with ASME Section III and Section XI design and fabrication criteria
Proficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) and ANSYS software
About this role
Lead thermal hydraulic and structural dynamic evaluations of reactor vessel internals (RVI) for Westinghouse nuclear power plants. Drive design analyses and load development supporting power uprates and component qualification across operating fleets, AP1000, and AP300 reactors.
Responsibilities
Perform design analyses for repair, modification, and qualification of primary pressure boundary components in Westinghouse-designed nuclear power plants
Execute finite element simulations (ANSYS), internal thermal hydraulic codes, and hand calculations to develop loads and qualify component designs
Lead technical teams through project completion while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements
Collaborate with component, system, and manufacturing teams on subsystem integration and emergent design issue resolution
Develop and manage project schedules in coordination with project managers and subsystem/component leads
