Required qualifications
- Licensed P.Eng. with Professional Engineers Ontario
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Mechatronics, or Nuclear Engineering
- 12+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Demonstrated experience in conceptual design, design reviews, and engineering change control
- Proven ability to substantiate custom, first-of-a-kind nuclear designs
- Proficiency with CAD and engineering analysis tools
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures, and inspection methods
- Knowledge of codes and standards for nuclear component and system design
- Experience with specialized tooling and remote handling equipment
- Proven track record working with customer representatives and vendor oversight
About this role
Lead mechanical systems and component design for nuclear applications at Westinghouse Electric Canada's Peterborough facility. Drive both traditional reactor projects and next-generation nuclear technology development, reporting to the Manager of Mechatronic Systems and Analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical teams in designing products, processes, and components for complex nuclear systems
- Create layouts and detail mechanisms, structures, and parts for advanced prototypes and manufacturing
- Lead discipline-level engineering efforts with demonstrated capability to mentor and manage teams
- Research manufacturing feasibility, material availability, and cost for assigned systems and components
- Conduct design reviews, manage engineering change control, and substantiate first-of-a-kind designs
- Work with customer representatives and oversee vendor performance
- Apply nuclear codes, standards, and specialized tooling for remote handling equipment
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid: 2 days/week onsite at Peterborough, Ontario; flexible remote work available across Canada.
