Palo Verde Pre-Apprentice West-MEC

Temporary pre-apprentice program at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (3-unit PWR facility). Rotate through maintenance assignments, develop hands-on skills under mentorship, complete NRC-required training and college coursework, and build foundation for nuclear maintenance craft careers.

Perform limited-scope maintenance tasks under supervision; rotate through various work assignments especially during outages; develop job skills through hands-on experience and mentorship; complete on-site industry training and designated college courses; embrace Palo Verde safety culture including Prevent Events tools, pre-job briefings, unsafe condition reporting, and ALARA strategies; demonstrate professionalism, correct tool use, and effective teamwork; participate actively in training with feedback; communicate clearly using required protocols; show willingness to learn and take direction; may serve as Emergency Response Organization (ERO) member and support refueling or short-notice outages.

High school diploma, GED, or official high school equivalency transcript; at least 18 years old by employment start; current Arizona resident; ability to satisfy NRC, security, physical, and psychological requirements for protected area access; pass all sections of Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) Test; U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Completion of West-MEC Energy and Manufacturing Systems Program or Energy and Industrial Technology Program; mechanical aptitude with basic hand tools knowledge; basic computer and keyboard skills; basic arithmetic and high school algebra; good communication and interpersonal skills.

Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, Arizona; on-site role with rotating assignments and outage work.
