About this role
E&I Journeyman position at APS Redhawk Power Plant. Perform instrumentation and electrical maintenance on power generation equipment, including troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of control systems, protective relays, and high-voltage equipment. Write work scopes and conduct hazard assessments. $10,000 signing bonus.
Responsibilities
- —Read work orders, technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and Control Wiring Diagrams (CWDs)
- —Enter and manipulate data in maintenance computer systems (Pi, DB Doc, CITECT) to record maintenance activity
- —Inspect, test, and analyze electrical and instrumentation equipment using testing devices to identify malfunctions
- —Remove, disassemble, calibrate, and maintain equipment including digital/analog controls, DCS, PLCs, interlocks, thermocouples, RTDs, motors, batteries, UPS, and metering equipment
- —Install, test, and troubleshoot medium and low voltage circuit breakers, protective relay equipment, and transformers
- —Set up, verify settings, and interpret data from protective relays
- —Install, inspect, and repair proper grounds on high voltage lines and transformers up to the generator; maintain grounding grids using live line tools
- —Write and review work scopes and hazard/risk assessments
- —Apply knowledge of safety standards including arc-flash protection, LOTO procedures, confined space entry, and PPE
Qualifications
- —At least 18 years old with valid driver's license
- —High School Diploma or GED
- —Completion of E&I Apprenticeship or equivalent skills and knowledge
- —Qualification as Electrical and Instrumentation Journeyman or equivalent
- —Live within one hour of Redhawk Power Plant
- —Pass mechanical aptitude test (MASS) and APS aptitude and qualifying skills tests (written and hands-on)
- —Demonstrated proficiency in both electrical and instrumentation skill sets
Desired
- —Experience with distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
Location
Onsite at Redhawk Power Plant (Phoenix, AZ area). Shift work and reasonable overtime required. Weight restriction of 300 lbs or less for aerial equipment work.
