Required qualifications
High school diploma or GED
At least 18 years of age
Ability to satisfy Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requirements for work in the protected area, including security, physical, and psychological clearance
One of the following: two- or four-year degree from a regionally accredited institution, four years of maintenance craft experience in the military (with DD214), or completion of the Palo Verde Generating Station/Western Maricopa Education Center Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Completion of core course prerequisites (CIS 105, COM 110, ENG 101, ENG 102 or ENG 111, MAT 121, PHS 110 or PHY 101, PPT 120/AIT 126) with a minimum grade of 80% (transcript required)
U.S. person status (U.S. Citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee)
About this role
A structured apprenticeship program at Palo Verde Generating Station (Arizona's largest power plant) where you'll progressively develop into a highly skilled nuclear maintenance technician in disciplines such as electrical, instrumentation & control (I&C), mechanical, valves, HVAC, or welding. You'll combine hands-on training under experienced technicians with related classroom instruction and industry-recognized coursework over the apprenticeship period.
Responsibilities
Complete all related instruction courses and achieve passing scores on required exams
Execute on-the-job training tasks and perform or assist in assigned nuclear maintenance work within the protected area
Demonstrate safety as a personal value in all activities and comply with nuclear security protocols
Support team vision, mission, and strategic objectives
Prepare all maintenance documentation in accordance with nuclear policies and procedures, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Serve as an Emergency Response Organization (ERO) member when called upon and support refueling or short-notice outages as needed
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite at Palo Verde Generating Station, Wintersburg, Arizona. Schedule flexibility required for refueling and short-notice outages.
