About this role
Operator role at Urenco USA's uranium enrichment facility in Eunice, NM—the only large-scale enrichment facility in North America. You'll monitor, control, and operate enrichment equipment and plant utility systems while ensuring safety and compliance with nuclear facility standards. Advancement to Control Room Operator level available through structured qualification program.
Responsibilities
- —Achieve and maintain qualifications as an enrichment plant operator up to Control Room Operator level per UUSA training program
- —Operate enrichment process and plant utility systems and equipment under moderate supervision
- —Perform cylinder handling activities including connecting/disconnecting cylinders, sampling, and blending operations
- —Maintain awareness of plant conditions through routine tours, rounds, and plant log maintenance
- —Identify and report equipment, process, and procedure issues to plant supervisors
- —Execute plant Incipient Fire Brigade and Emergency Plan duties up to Incident Commander level; participate in training and drills
- —Provide on-the-job training to operators in training for qualifications you hold
- —Understand system design and operation of UUSA uranium enrichment equipment and plant utilities
- —Create and review new procedures and revisions to existing procedures
Qualifications
- —High School Diploma or GED
- —4 years of combined related work experience in a technical, chemical, or operations environment
- —2 years minimum of related work experience at an operating nuclear facility in a related role (operator, maintenance, or RP)
- —Ability to obtain and maintain Department of Energy L security clearance
- —Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualification required
Location
Eunice, NM; rotating 12-hour shifts (4 days on, 5 days off) including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays; less than 10% travel; potential exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, radiation, electrical hazard, toxic chemicals, and moving machinery
