About this role

Become a licensed Reactor Operator at Constellation, the nation's largest clean energy producer. This role involves completing Initial License Training and NRC Reactor Operator licensure, then operating nuclear power stations under strict safety and technical specifications. You'll be responsible for safe, conservative, and efficient reactor operations in a safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the plant in accordance with approved procedures and Technical Specifications to ensure safe, conservative, and efficient reactor operation
  • Monitor the reactor and assigned control room panels to ensure operation remains within established bands
  • Notify the Unit Supervisor of unusual or unexpected conditions
  • Maintain awareness of activities and work impacting the unit and assist Reactor Operator assignments
  • Maintain narrative logs of activities occurring on the assigned unit during shifts
  • Perform clearance activities and coordinate liquid radwaste releases and transfers with Reactor Operators and Radwaste Equipment Operators
  • Perform electrical switching from the Control Room
  • Complete classroom lessons, study time, exams, and field time to attain RO License and pass company and NRC-issued exams
  • Be available for on-call rotating shifts including holidays and weekends
  • Serve on the Emergency Response Organization

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Successfully pass the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) and Basic Math and Science Test (BMST)
  • Pass NRC-required physical examination for licensed operators
  • Ability to complete fire brigade member qualifications including wearing respirators and carrying 20-pound oxygen tank
  • Obtain unescorted access to Constellation nuclear power plants
  • One of the following experience pathways: 6 months as non-licensed operator at Constellation nuclear plant (with 18 months total Power Plant experience); OR 12 months as qualified non-licensed operator at comparable nuclear facility or 18 months at non-comparable facility (with 18 months total experience); OR 6 months as ACTIVE licensed reactor operator at comparable facility or 12 months at non-comparable facility (with 18 months total experience); OR 18 months in equivalent military Navy Reactor position; OR 27 months in non-nuclear power production plant during preoperational, startup, or operational activities

Location

Onsite nuclear power plant operations with rotating shifts including holidays and weekends; on-call availability required; must meet fire brigade physical qualifications and respirator use requirements.
