Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering Management, Nuclear Technology, or related science field
- 10+ years of nuclear power plant experience in Engineering, Training, Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, Maintenance, Operations, Work Management, or Project Management
- Understanding of nuclear industry standards and 10 CFR 50 requirements
- Knowledge of design control/basis, technical specifications, process management, quality management, plant/equipment operations, root cause analysis, corrective action programs (CAP), and radiological response
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to Callaway Energy Center including radiological controlled areas
- Willingness to participate in Nuclear Fitness for Duty Program
- Security screening clearance for Callaway Energy Center access
About this role
The Nuclear Corporate Oversight Consultant provides independent critical assessment and oversight of Callaway Energy Center's nuclear performance, programs, and processes. You will challenge site leadership to meet NRC and industry standards, identify improvement opportunities, monitor organizational adverse trends, and prepare performance briefings for site, executive, and board leadership.
Responsibilities
- Provide critical assessment and oversight of Callaway Energy Center's nuclear performance, programs, processes, and procedures
- Monitor and provide oversight of CEC preparations for INPO or NRC evaluations in assigned functional areas
- Communicate recommendations to CEC leadership to drive continuous improvement aligned with Ameren Values
- Challenge site leadership to ensure issues/concerns jeopardizing excellence are resolved timely and industry best practices are internalized
- Prepare and lead functional area performance discussions with site leadership, Ameren executive leadership, and board of directors as required
- Internalize requirements defined in Policy 52 (Callaway Plant Governance, Oversight, Support, and Performance Model)
- Benchmark top nuclear industry performers through routine onsite observations at Callaway Energy Center to identify improvement opportunities
Preferred qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- 5+ years of supervisory or high-level team/project leadership experience
- Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) or Reactor Operator (RO) license
- AI competency
Location, schedule, and travel
Onsite position at Callaway Energy Center in mid-Missouri with approximately 10% day travel depending on business needs.
