About this role
Mechanical Engineer supporting Westinghouse's nuclear component engineering team. Design, analyze, and oversee fabrication of large nuclear components including replacement steam generators, AP1000 primary components, and BWR systems. Use structural, dynamic, and thermal-hydraulic analysis tools to support safety-critical hardware development.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for large component design, analysis, and fabrication work, focusing on replacement steam generators, AP1000 primary components, and BWR engineering
- Perform analytical calculations (structural, dynamic, and thermal hydraulic) and evaluations using engineering tools and methods
- Develop design documentation for safety and non-safety related hardware, including manufacturing drawings, functional and design specifications, and qualification reports
- Develop documentation related to calculations and analyses
- Coordinate with technical leads, project managers, and customers on assigned work scope activities
- Travel occasionally to customer and manufacturing vendor sites to provide on-site support, deliver presentations, and assist in issue resolution
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid (Chattanooga, TN) with occasional travel to customer sites and nuclear plant locations
