Modeling & Simulation Principal Engineer -
About this role
Lead modeling and simulation strategy and execution within Westinghouse's Dynamic Simulation Lab. Drive expansion of nuclear simulation capabilities through computational fluid dynamics, nuclear engineering analysis, and AI/ML integration. Collaborate across Westinghouse organizations and external partners to identify emerging simulation needs and introduce advanced technologies to optimize nuclear products and workflows.
Responsibilities
- —Lead specific projects within the Dynamic Simulation Lab and engage in simulation activities
- —Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Westinghouse to identify modeling and simulation needs and assess ongoing activities
- —Monitor modeling and simulation developments within the nuclear industry and related fields
- —Initiate and participate in external collaborations with industry partners and research institutions
- —Introduce new technologies, including AI/ML, to improve simulation workflows, optimize products, and expand simulation applications
Qualifications
- —5+ years of relevant experience in modeling and simulation
- —MSc in Engineering or related discipline (e.g., Simulation, Nuclear, Mathematics) or recognized equivalent
- —5+ years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics and/or Nuclear Engineering
- —Experience working with advanced simulations, Machine Learning, or data analysis
- —Understanding of the role of simulations in the nuclear industry
- —Ability to understand complex technical challenges and evaluate potential solutions
