About this role

Advanced technical engineering role at Constellation's Byron nuclear station focused on mechanical valve systems and engineering analysis. You will provide expert technical support for valve-related engineering projects, troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, and ensure compliance with nuclear industry codes and NRC regulations. Two career tracks available: Mid-level ($92,700–$114,000) or Senior level ($122,400–$154,000).

Responsibilities

  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs
  • Identify and resolve equipment and system problems through direct technical consultation and root cause analysis
  • Manage engineering issues from initiation through resolution, ensuring proper configuration management
  • Apply standard design criteria, practices, procedures and nuclear codes (ASME, ANSI standards) in preparation of engineering plans and specifications
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects
  • Recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve valve performance, reduce costs, correct design flaws, or ensure regulatory compliance
  • Support emergency response, departmental coverage, and refueling outage activities as directed

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 2 years nuclear experience or related engineering experience (Mid-level); minimum 5 years (Senior level)
  • Meet requirements outlined in ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 Standard for Nuclear Power Plant Personnel
  • Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access as applicable
  • Favorable medical examination and testing in accordance with position duties

Desired

  • Hands-on background with valves, AOVs (air operated valves), MOVs (motor operated valves), or other active mechanical components
  • Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or eligibility
  • Advanced technical degree (M.S. Engineering) or related graduate coursework

Location

Byron Clean Energy facility, Byron, Illinois. Position includes on-call emergency response duties and outage support requirements.
