Mechanical Engineer
About this role
Long-term contract Mechanical Engineer at Westinghouse designing and manufacturing mechanical components for nuclear energy systems. Focus on seismic-integrity designs, 3D modeling, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
Responsibilities
- —Design mechanical components and assemblies to ensure seismic integrity and manufacturability
- —Create 3D models and design packages for cabinets, custom metal work, and fastener design/fabrication
- —Design cabinet hardware electrical applications and assemblies
- —Manage Bill of Material and revision control for mechanical design packages
- —Compile technical and quality documentation for procurement, testing, and manufacturing
- —Collaborate with manufacturing and outside fabricators to resolve issues and ensure build-to-print compliance
- —Communicate with engineering organizations and third-party test facilities for equipment qualification
- —Perform engineering calculations supporting design and analysis
- —Provide customer support for installation and technical issues
- —Travel to customer and supplier sites (domestic and international)
Qualifications
- —B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- —3+ years of sheet metal design experience
- —Knowledge of AWS (or equivalent) welding requirements
- —General knowledge of sheet metal welding
- —Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault (or similar) experience
- —Experience with Geometric Tolerances and Dimensions (ASME Y14.5)
- —Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, testing, manufacturing, supply chain, and suppliers
Location
Long-term contract in Cranberry Township, PA; domestic and international travel required.
