About this role

Engineer I position at Westinghouse supporting nuclear energy through materials and aging management for reactor internals. Develop inspection criteria, perform structural analysis using FEA and ASME Code, and qualify replacement components to ensure safe long-term nuclear plant operation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inspection acceptance criteria for nuclear power plant components, including bolting patterns and flaw acceptance criteria for material degradation
  • Perform calculations and structural analysis of reactor vessel internals using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and ASME Code design methods
  • Qualify replacement reactor internals components through structural evaluations including stress and fatigue analysis
  • Evaluate component degradation mechanisms to permit continued safe plant operation
  • Support generic industry projects developing guidance and requirements for long-term operation of reactor vessel internals

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline; minimum 3.0 GPA; 0–2 years applicable experience
