Required qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with minimum GPA 3.0. Ability to work remotely and on-site at customer locations to support global projects.
About this role
Design mechanical systems for advanced nuclear reactors at Westinghouse, including piping layout, HVAC design, seismic assessments, hazard protection (missile, flooding, internal events), and fuel handling equipment. Use 3D modeling and WNEXUS proprietary design tools to support reactor design, fabrication, construction, and maintenance across global projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical arrangement and 3D modeling of nuclear island structures, piping, equipment, and support systems using proprietary Westinghouse WNEXUS digital design architecture
- Conduct hazards assessments including seismic interaction, internal/external missile protection, flooding, and other hazard protection design using 3D plant models and analysis software
- Prepare engineering reports to satisfy NRC regulatory, code, and customer contract requirements
- Review and verify 3D models, plant designs, and engineering drawings against design criteria
- Provide design support to fabrication and construction teams globally, including RFI responses, design change identification, and deviation resolution
Preferred qualifications
Engineering internship experience. Pursuit of Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and Professional Engineering (PE) licensure.
Location, schedule, and travel
Hybrid: Cranberry Township, PA or Rock Hill, SC; on-site 2 days/week. No relocation assistance.
